let me tell you about a good friend from my childhood:
When our family moved to the LaCroft section of East Liverpool, Ohio, I was enrolled in the 8th grade class at Pleasant Heights Elementary School. That's where I first met Theda Mason who was to become a special friend.
While in that class we both became part of a girls' sextet. Later, we sang in a trio with Theda's sister, Esther, in our church and other places nearby.
I have fond memories of sleepovers, playground volleyball, church activities and many laughs which filled our youth. After I went to college and Theda moved out of town, our paths separated, but it was very fitting that she should be my Maid of Honor. And now that we are in our 80's we are still in contact from time to time.
Here are some of my favorite books:
1. The Bible
2. The Robe by Lloyd Douglas
3. 41 (Story of George H.W. Bush by G.W.B.
4. Peace Child by Don Richardson
5. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
6. House Calls and Hitching Posts
Here are some books I think you might like to read:
1. Unclocked by Karen Kingsbury
2. Dear and Glorious Physician, T. Caldwell
3. So Big by Edna Ferber
4. American Tragedy by Theodore Dreiser
5. The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom
I love books and book recommendations. So I was pretty excited about these last two entries.
How did Grandma do?
Out of her own favorites, I've read The Robe and Pride and Prejudice, both are favorites of mine as well…and a good portion of The Bible. Peace Child was already on my TBR list on Goodreads and I'll be adding House Calls and Hitching Posts to it. The jury's still out on that last one…
Of her recommendations, I've read none, and only The Hiding Place was already on my to-be-read list (but I was surprised So Big wasn't!) I've got some reading to do.
